Vegna veiruhlédragsins sem mörg okkar eru í þessa dagana verða engin námskeið hjá KSD/ Hugleiðslu- og friðarmiðstöðinni fyrr en í haust. Hugleiðslan á miðvikudögum kl. 20:00 og Chenrezig kl. 19:30 verður eins og venjulega (pössum vel upp á fjarlægð og handspritt á staðnum). Hlúum vel að andlegri heilsu þessa dagana, það er það sem við gerum í hlédrögum.

Félagar í Félagi Tíbet búddista og HFM geta alltaf hringt í síma okkar til að fá leiðbeiningar.

Dear Friends

am happy to share with you some news that inspires me as I look forward to the New Year.

In November 2015, the great meditation teacher Mingyur Rinpoche returned from his wandering retreat. In 2019 an amazing book “In Love with the World” told the moving story of his decision to follow the example of the great yogis of the past. Many people have learnt so much about living from reading his experience of almost dying. However, this happened just a few weeks into his retreat and we were left wondering what happened during the rest of the 4½ years he spent living on busy city streets and in remote mountain caves.

The wait to find out more about Mingyur Rinpoche’s time in retreat  is almost over as a film called “Wandering but not Lost” is in the final stages of production.

To give you a flavour of the film, here is a link to a short excerpt called The Nomad - Our True Nature

If you want to know more about “Wandering but not Lost” and how you can help to share Mingyur Rinpoche’s timeless wisdom with our crazy modern world, please see below the latest update from the film’s Director Paul McGowan.

With Best Wishes for 2020

Thanks to the kindness and generosity of many supporters, we have raised more than $15,000 through our crowdfunding campaign, and another $8,000 in cash donations and pledges! A huge thank you for helping to fulfil Mingyur Rinpoche’s vision, and enabling us to get closer to the completion of this incredible film.

We have now passed the half way mark, which is fantastic. We do still have a way to go however - In order to fund the final production costs and share Rinpoche’s story with the world, we still need to raise another $14,000.

If you have already donated, and you selected one of the special perks, these will be sent out to you at the end of the campaign, as a small token of our appreciation. Please also continue to share the campaign widely.

We’re confident we can get there, but we really need your support. If you can help in any way, it would be very much appreciated!

Donate Now

We are also very happy to announce that the meditation documentary A Joyful Mind, featuring Mingyur Rinpoche, is now available to watch for free on YouTube. Follow the link here to watch this fascinating film and share Rinpoche’s much-needed teachings with the world.

Thank you once again for all of your support. We’ll keep you posted on our progress, and look forward to sharing more of Rinpoche’s precious teachings with everyone soon!

Wishing you all a very Happy Holiday!

With best wishes from the Wandering…but not lost team

Dear Friends

I am really happy that I can come to Iceland again soon. On 14th and 15th December there will be a weekend of learning, conversations and mindfulness practice at Samye Dzong Reykjavik. It will be great to see some old friends and to meet some new friends. Recently I have been helping to write and edit a book called “Mindful Heroes – stories of journeys that changed lives” and this will be the theme for our weekend. We are sending you a Free Sample Chapter from the book to give you an introduction to the benefits of seeing your own life and practice in the context of this archetypal Journey of Mindful Heroes.

I feel that mindfulness is a journey and as we explore our inner world we face challenges and learn from them.  The good news is that the freedom we discover then enables us to help others.

During the weekend I will guide you on your own Mindful Hero’s journey and introduce you to some of the mindfulness, compassion and insight practices that I have found to be most beneficial.

Whether you are fairly new to meditation or if you already have some years of experience, it will be a great opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of why you practice and to find fresh inspiration for your personal journey.

We are all connected and something special happens when friends gather together with the intention of benefiting themselves and others

I do hope you will be able to join us for this unique “Journey of Mindful Heroes” workshop.

Best Wishes

Dear Friends,

I would like to share with you evidence of another of my brother Akong Tulku Rinpoche’s miracles.  The three beautiful yellow flowers you see in the photograph normally only grow in Spring.

For the first time since leaving the place of his birth as a young child Akong Rinpoche was able to return there last year.  Then this year, this flower miraculously grew exactly in the place of his birth around the time of his passing, a time which is completely out of season for this flower.  As you can see it has become a place of pilgrimage and offerings are being left there.

With best wishes,

Lama Yeshe Rinpoche

Four Hundred Million Mantras

Web site: www.samyeling.org

Chamgon Khentin Tai Situpa has requested that all students of Choje Akong Tulku Rinpoche work together to recite One Hundred Million of each of the following mantras:

  • Amitabha (Om Ami Dewa Hrih)
  • Chenrezig, (Om Mani Peme Hung)
  • Guru Rinpoche (Om Ah Hung Benza Guru Pema Siddhi Hung)
  • and the short Dorje Sempa mantra (Om Benza Satto Hung)

We ask that as many people as possible choose one or more of the mantras to take as part of their daily practice. We recommend that each Samye Dzong appoint a representative who will keep a record of the mantras recited and the amount. The appointed person should then let Ani Paldron know via email at paldron@samyelingshop.com on a weekly or monthly basis so that we can keep a record here. People who are not affiliated with a Samye Dzong can let Ani Paldron know directly themselves.

It is expected that this will take some time and we hope that as many people as possible can take part so that we can ensure that we achieve our aim, with the aspiration of a swift return for Choje Akong Tulku Rinpoche and the fulfillment of his Dharma and Charitable activities.

19th October 2013

Dear Friends,It has taken me a little time to organise all the things I had to do here before I could write to let you all know my thoughts. Now that I’ve had time to reflect, it is time to let all dharma students know. When I learnt the circumstances of my brother’s death and the identities of those who killed him and his nephew and driver, I felt extremely sorry for them because it shows how one moment of misguided anger can ruin so many lives. So, instead of feeling angry I feel compassion for them and think about how much bad karma these misguided persons have created for themselves and others.I would like to let all our dharma friends, who wish to do something for my brother and me, know that this is the time for forgiveness.  We should all have the bodhisattva attitude of mind and feel compassion and forgiveness towards those responsible for Rinpoche’s death. I have been able to forgive and this is how I was freed from my suffering.I would like all students to reflect that when we allow our nega tive mind to take over we become capable of doing evil things. As students of Choje Akong Tulku Rinpoche we should be proud of our association with him because all across the Tibetan areas of China many hundreds of monasteries and many thousands of people are now doing prayers. In these areas, as elsewhere in the world, Rinpoche has been able to bring together people of all ages and walks of life.We should be so proud because he has spent his whole life working for the benefit of others without any desire for his own wealth and comfort. It has been an honour to be part of his life and we should keep his legacy alive by supporting all his activities and especially his charitable projects.Choje Akong Tulku Rinpoche was especially committed to providing education, healthcare and cultural preservation in the Tibetan areas of China, and I now earnestly request you all to support these ROKPA projects in particular.I would like to share some beautifu l words from a letter of commemoration of Rinpoche’s activity, by the 18th Dulmo Choje Rinpoche:”Saintly, noble being that you are, you worked diligently during your entire life to serve the Buddhadharma and all living beings. With an infinite kindness, greater even than a mother’s tender love, you nurtured a flock of countless orphans; with a love greater even than the care of a cherished son, you looked after the many old and invalid people who are helpless and with no one to support them; with the finest generosity and with no bias or preference, you bestowed the gift of fulfilling the needs and wishes of the weakest - the sick and the poor; with the aid you provided, you gave a renewed strength to the dharma and culture of Tibet that had become like a lamp with no more fuel.”Finally I would like to thank all of you who have sent messages of sympathy, I am overwhelmed by your kindness and understanding.I urge you to keep a compassionate and positive mind, a nd let us now work together to continue Rinpoche’s  activity,With every good wish,

Lama Yeshe Losal Rinpoche

Further Statement from Lama Yeshe Losal Rinpoche

Web site: www.samyeling.org

Now that the Chengdu Police have released the names of the men who killed Choje Akong Tulku Rinpoche, his nephew and attendant, we are in a position to confirm that one of the suspects named by the police, Tu Dan Gu Sha also known as Thubten Kunsal, had previously spent more than five years in the UK, and returned to China two years ago.

Whilst residing in the UK he made religious statues at our monastery in Scotland and our London centre. He left very happy and there was no question of any economic dispute. My brother, Choje Akong Tulku Rinpoche had always been very kind to Thubten Kunsal and welcomed him into the heart of our community.According to an official microblog post by the Chengdu police force, the three suspects confronted my brother and the other two victims, with knives, at his home in Chengdu in what is being described as an “economic dispute.”We strongly refute any claims that Thubten Kunsal was owed money by Akong Rinpoche, the monastery or our London centre. When he was with us in the UK we supported his living expenses as agreed in writing, and there was never any dispute about that.We are the refore very shocked that two years later he came demanding money, knowing that Akong Rinpoche was about to send funds to the ROKPA charitable projects in the Tibetan areas of China. As we have already stated, Akong Rinpoche died defending those funds. It has been reported in the press that the driver who was killed was a monk from Samye Ling.  This is not correct.  It was Akong Tulku Rinpoche’s Tibetan attendant, from his Monastery Dolma Lhakang, who has not been to the UK.I hope this statement will clear up any misunderstandings,With thanks for your prayers and kind wishes,Lama Yeshe Losal RinpocheAbbot of Kagyu Samye Ling Monastery, Scotland.

Further News of Choje Akong Tulku Rinpoche

Web site: www.samyeling.org

I know all of you have been waiting for further news. It has now been confirmed that the precious body of my brother, Choje Akong Tulku Rinpoche will be taken to his monastery, Dolma Lhakang, in the Tibetan Autonomous Region for the prayers and cremation accorded to a high Rinpoche.

You may have read that three men have been arrested in connection with the murders of Akong Tulku Rinpoche, his nephew and his attendant. As you know, Akong Tulku Rinpoche was about to embark on his annual tour visiting the projects of ROKPA INTERNATIONAL, the charity he founded, which provides education and healthcare in the most remote areas, to give them the funds raised during the year.We believe that those arrested were trying to get hold of these funds. Rinpoche died protecting them and has sacrificed his life to safeguard the monies destined for the thousands of Tibetan people who depend on him. With thanks for your prayers and good wishes,Lama Yeshe Losal RinpocheAbbot of Kagyu Samye Ling

Message of Thanks from Rinpoche’s Family

Choje Akong Rinpoche’s wife, children and family would like to thank the many people both in the UK and overseas who have taken the time to ring, send messages, cards and flowers of condolence. The family have taken comfort by the kind words, thoughts and prayers being said for Choje Akong Rinpoche.

Akong Labrang Memorial Fund

The tragic news of Choje Akong Tulku Rinpoche’s sudden death has deeply affected everyone who knew him.

Rinpoche was highly respected and loved by many thousands of people all over the world and we intend to do everything to honour the passing of such a great being. Therefore we have established the Akong Labrang Memorial Fund, dedicated to his memory and to continuing his work.We are committed to raising enough money to ensure that all the appropriate prayers are done for him for the traditional 49 days in many major Monasteries, and these will all require substantial offerings. We also need to build a Kudung for Rinpoche’s remains as well as doing everything we can to continue funding the many humanitarian projects he has established that benefit so many people in need. We cannot let them down and indeed we should improve and increase the help we give, as Rinpoche would have wished. Therefore I ask any of you who wish to support Rinpoche to send whatever you can - whether a single amount or monthly installments. To make a single offering please clic khere, and for information about making monthly payments please contact accounts@samyeling.orgI thank you for your help and for all your kind messages of sympathy. Every one of them is appreciated.Lama Yeshe Losal Rinpoche
